Sr. Claims Adjuster - Management Liability

Summary

The Senior Claims Adjuster manages all components of claim handling for the Management Liability line of business. Independently reviews submitted materials and policy documents, performs complete coverage analysis, and prepares coverage determination correspondence. Reviews and provides direction on reserve and settlement authority, where required, on complex, specialized claims including D&O, EPL, Fiduciary, Commercial Crime, Financial Institution E&O, Financial Institution bonds and Representations and Warranties/ transactional liability. Supports business partners through communication about specific claims, identification of claim trends, input on development, and marketing support. Monitors claim quality and customer feedback to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, customer satisfaction and achievement of corporate objectives. Independently operates within company guidelines and authority levels in the settlement of claims. Makes appropriate decisions on coverage and strategic settlement of claims. Reviews and assigns new files as needed. Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure execution of proper claim handling strategies; including appropriate determination of coverage, liability, damages and claim resolution under various D&O, EPL, crime/bond, financial institution, and Reps & Warranties policies.
  • Ensure proper reserving to achieve compliance with corporate policy.
  • Manage claim litigation, including strategizing with defense counsel and experts.
  • Analyze coverage and prepare coverage letters. Proficiency in financial lines insurance coverage required.
  • Negotiate settlements and attend mediations, arbitrations, and trials as appropriate.
  • Prepare required Large Loss Reports and Trial Alerts.
  • Make decisions and recommendations for claim disposition, including evaluation, negotiation, and settlement.
  • Develop and implement strategies to correct adverse trends.
  • Maintain a strong professional knowledge of competitive, regulatory, and legal environments and apply this information effectively.
  • Consult with other staff and may participate on related projects.
  • Anticipate and meet all customer needs (internal and external).
  • Prepare for and attend claim review meetings with business partners within specialized business units.

Other responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree required
  • JD highly preferred

Minimum of 3 years D&O claims (public and private company) experience or related education/experience Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Must possess high level skills and extensive claims technical knowledge including D&O, EPL, and Financial Institution products and industry.
  • Ability to successfully work autonomously and take initiative.
  • Extensive knowledge of legal principles, and policy interpretation. Prior D&O coverage experience required.
  • Genuine curiosity, resourcefulness, and ability to learn complex products such as Reps & Warranties.
  • Must possess expert analytical, decision making, negotiation, problem-solving, project management, organizational, and teamwork skills.
  • Must demonstrate superior written and oral communication skills and the ability to communicate professionally with all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking capabilities.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with computer software including Microsoft Office suite and other Claims tracking tools.

Compensation & Benefits The applicable base salary for this opportunity is $100,000 - $150,000. The base pay offered will be determined by factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. In addition to the base salary, this opportunity may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
