Our client seeks a highly experienced and meticulous Lead Aviation Safety Investigator to contribute to upholding the highest standards of safety within the aviation industry, based out of Tampa, Florida, US . This senior-level position involves conducting in-depth investigations into aviation incidents and accidents, identifying root causes, and developing actionable recommendations to prevent future occurrences. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of aviation regulations, operational procedures, aircraft systems, and human factors. You will lead investigative teams, manage complex data analysis, and liaise with regulatory bodies, airlines, manufacturers, and other stakeholders. This role requires exceptional analytical skills, critical thinking, and the ability to communicate findings clearly and persuasively, both verbally and in writing. The position demands a proactive commitment to safety enhancement and a rigorous, evidence-based approach to investigation. Responsibilities: Lead and manage all phases of aviation incident and accident investigations, from initial response to final reporting. Assemble, brief, and direct investigative teams comprised of specialists in various disciplines (e.g., flight operations, maintenance, air traffic control, human factors). Conduct thorough analysis of flight data recorders, cockpit voice recorders, maintenance records, weather data, and other relevant information. Interview witnesses, involved personnel, and subject matter experts to gather critical information. Apply established investigative methodologies and safety management principles to determine causal and contributing factors. Develop comprehensive and well-supported investigation reports, including findings, conclusions, and safety recommendations. Present investigation findings and recommendations to senior management, regulatory agencies, and industry stakeholders. Collaborate with internal departments and external organizations (e.g., NTSB, FAA) to share safety knowledge and promote best practices. Identify systemic issues and recommend improvements to policies, procedures, training, and equipment to enhance aviation safety. Stay current with aviation safety regulations, technologies, and emerging trends. Mentor and guide junior investigators and provide technical expertise to the safety department. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Aviation Management, Aeronautical Science, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field. An advanced degree is a significant plus. A minimum of 8-10 years of progressive experience in aviation safety, accident investigation, or a closely related operational role (e.g., pilot, air traffic controller, maintenance engineer). Proven experience leading complex investigations and managing multidisciplinary teams. In-depth knowledge of aviation regulations (e.g., FAA, EASA), operational procedures, and safety management systems (SMS). Expertise in accident/incident investigation techniques and methodologies. Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical information clearly and concisely. Proficiency in data analysis tools and investigation management software. Ability to travel as required to incident sites and meetings. Demonstrated leadership qualities and the ability to work effectively under pressure. Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Aviation Safety Officer) are highly desirable.
