Senior Oil or Natural Gas Trader
Location: Flexible / Hybrid (depending on desk structure) Type: Full-time Strategy Focus: Discretionary / Relative Value / Macro / Volatility Trading Overview: We are seeking a Senior Discretionary Trader with a proven track record of generating strong, consistent PnL in either oil or natural gas markets . This is a capital-backed, performance-driven trading environment designed for experienced speculators who operate with high conviction and specialize in monetizing volatility, macro dislocations, and relative value opportunities across global energy markets. The mandate is strictly proprietary trading with meaningful capital allocation and full PnL responsibility. Responsibilities:
- Trade discretionary strategies across oil and/or natural gas markets
- Manage a proprietary trading book with full PnL and risk accountability
- Express high-conviction views across outrights, spreads, curves, and volatility structures
- Identify and monetize macro-driven dislocations and market inefficiencies
- Trade liquid derivatives and financial instruments linked to global energy markets
- Dynamically manage risk across changing volatility regimes
- Independently generate and execute trading ideas
Requirements:
- Proven track record of strong PnL generation in oil or natural gas trading
- Experience in hedge fund, prop trading, merchant trading, or leading energy trading desk
- Deep understanding of energy market structure, fundamentals, and positioning dynamics
- Strong discretionary trading capability (non-systematic, non-origination focused)
- Demonstrated ability to scale risk while controlling drawdowns
- Portable PnL or verifiable performance history strongly preferred
