HR Generalist and Compliance Specialist (Workday/ADP) - PT 20-30 Hrs/Wk

Catalyte is seeking an experienced HR Generalist to lead HR compliance and operations across a distributed, multi-state U.S. workforce of approximately 100 employees. This is a high-ownership, hands-on role focused on maintaining and strengthening compliance, ensuring ongoing adherence to employment law and regulatory requirements, and establishing durable processes and controls to prevent gaps going forward. What You'll Own Compliance Assessment & Remediation Conduct a comprehensive review of HR policies, processes, and operational practices. Ensure ongoing adherence across wage and hour, employee classification, I-9s, benefits (ACA/COBRA), and required reporting (including 1095-C filings). Establish and maintain audit controls, compliance calendars, and repeatable processes to ensure deadlines and requirements are consistently met. Address and close any remaining compliance gaps as needed. Multi-State Compliance Own compliance across federal, state, and local employment requirements, including FLSA, FMLA, EEO, ADA, and wage and hour laws. Maintain multi-state obligations spanning workers’ compensation, unemployment insurance, state and local tax coordination, and payroll tax setup in partnership with Finance and payroll provider. HR Operations Support onboarding, employee relations, and core HR operations across a distributed workforce. Oversee benefits and 401(k) administration, including vendor coordination, billing review/reconciliation, and COBRA administration. Maintain and improve Workday HRIS data integrity, reporting, and system configuration. Partner with Finance, Payroll, and external vendors (e.g., benefits broker, payroll providers) to ensure alignment and accuracy. Prepare for and support audits or regulatory reviews as needed. Orchestrate annual HR processes, including open enrollment and performance review cycles. Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external vendors to ensure timely execution, accurate communications, and complete participation. Required Proven HR Generalist experience in a multi-state U.S. environment. Knowledge of employment law compliance with demonstrated ownership of ongoing compliance programs Strong hands-on Workday experience, including HRIS data integrity and reporting with ability to operate and optimize independently Experience with benefits administration, ACA reporting, 401(k) administration, COBRA, and performance management. Experience as a sole or lead HR practitioner in a lean or resource-constrained organization. Preferred Workday HCM certification or demonstrated advanced Workday proficiency across core modules.
