You will be the reassuring presence that ensures patients receive safe, compassionate care while they rest, allowing the broader clinical team to focus on diagnostic and therapeutic tasks. This role is ideal for professionals who thrive in a collaborative, fast‑paced environment and who are motivated to make a tangible difference in patients’ nighttime experiences.Key Responsibilities – Your Day‑to‑Day Impact• Patient Safety and Comfort: Provide vigilant observation, assist with mobility, and perform hygiene tasks to maintain patient dignity and comfort throughout the night shift.• Clinical Documentation: Accurately record vital signs, patient observations, and care activities in electronic health records (EHR), ensuring compliance with UCI policies and regulatory standards.• Effective Communication: Liaise promptly with patients, families, registered nurses, physicians, and ancillary staff to convey changes in condition, escalating concerns as needed.• Professional Nursing Behavior: Demonstrate empathy, confidentiality, and professionalism in all interactions, modeling best practices for junior staff and volunteers.• Collaboration and Teamwork: Participate in interdisciplinary huddles, share insights, and contribute to the seamless operation of the unit during night hours.• Customer Service Excellence: Respond to patient inquiries and requests promptly, fostering a supportive atmosphere that enhances patient satisfaction.• Technical Skill Application: Apply your certified nursing assistant training to perform bedside care, including wound dressing changes, catheter care, and safe patient transfers.• Continuous Learning: Stay current with UCI’s clinical protocols, safety guidelines, and emerging best practices through mandatory trainings and optional professional development courses.• Ad Hoc Duties: Accept additional responsibilities as assigned, ranging from assisting in discharge planning to supporting infection control initiatives.Essential Qualifications – What You Must Bring• Education: High school diploma or equivalent; successful completion of a California‑approved Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program.• Licensure & Certifications: Active California CNA license; American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR certification.• Training: Completion of a non‑violent crisis intervention or verbal de‑escalation course within three (3) months of hire.• Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of hands‑on nursing assistant experience in a hospital, long‑term care, or similar health‑care setting (preferred).• Legal Requirements: Ability to pass a background check, live scan, and E‑Verify; legal right to work in the United States; compliance with UCI vaccination and drug‑free policies.• Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with electronic health record systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner) and basic computer skills for remote documentation.Preferred Qualifications – How You Can Stand Out• Knowledge of University of California system policies, medical center procedures, and patient‑care forms.• Prior experience working in an academic medical center or large health‑care network.• Additional certifications such as Certified Medication Aide (CMA) or advanced BLS/ACLS training.• Experience with multicultural patient populations and the ability to communicate effectively across language and cultural barriers.• Demonstrated commitment to continuous quality improvement initiatives.Core Skills & Competencies – What Makes You Successful• Compassionate Care: Genuine empathy and a patient‑centered mindset that prioritizes dignity, privacy, and emotional support.• Critical Thinking: Ability to assess patient conditions quickly, identify potential safety risks, and take appropriate action.• Communication Excellence: Clear, concise oral and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information to diverse audiences.• Team Collaboratio Apply tot his job Apply To this Job
