Education Manager

To support ACTFL’s mission and vision through the management of in-person and online professional learning content, programs, services, projects, and initiatives. RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Professional Learning Programs and Services Assist in the creation, development, and revision of world language content for all learning programs and services, including the annual Assembly of Delegates, consultancies, courses, town halls, institutes, special events, webinars, workshops, and credentialing pathways. Ensure alignment of content with ACTFL foundational documents and principles, and proficiency-oriented practices for language instruction, learning, and assessment. Evaluate processes for professional learning contracting and establish best practices for communicating with clients and consultants. Assist in the process of recruiting, onboarding, mentoring, and evaluating consultants and volunteers for professional learning offerings. Maintain licensing agreements and contracts for facilitators and consultants for online learning and course development. Analyze data collected from professional learning offerings and identify areas for improvement or adjustments to better serve members and the wider language educator Collaborate across departments to develop and execute promotional strategies for professional learning opportunities, including those offered as member benefits and those open to all language educators. Manage ACTFL’s status as an approved professional development provider in all states with such a requirement. Coordinate special grant-funded or sponsored professional learning programs or Produce materials related to programs and services (e.g., writing, editing, reviewing, and disseminating documents, analyses, and reports). 2. Resources Develop and lead the curation of an online library of model curricula, lesson plans, assessments, and other resources for access by educators and methods instructors. Manage the process for calling for content for inclusion in the online Facilitate training for contributors to develop new resources for inclusion in the online Evaluate submitted content for alignment with proficiency-oriented teaching practices. 3. General Administration Collaborate across departments to facilitate ACTFL projects, revise current resources, and support new professional learning initiatives to address ACTFL’s Strategic Pillars. EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS: Bachelor’s degree in a language education-related field required; Master’s degree in a language education-related field preferred. Minimum of seven (7) years of classroom teaching experience in world languages required. Strong knowledge of, and experience using, the World Readiness Standards for Language Learning, ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines, and NCSSFL-ACTFL Can-Do Statements. Documented evidence of developing and leading professional learning with world language educators. Experience and comfort working in online and blended teaching, learning, and training environments. 2-3 years of project management experience working with educators. Professional-level oral, written, communication, and proofreading skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Strong organization, planning, and time management Experience in online learning and course development for adults preferred. Experience with Articulate, Canva, Adobe, and learning management platforms preferred. EXPECTED WORK HOURS/TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: This is a full-time position with a 35-hour work General operating hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Eastern Time, with flexible scheduling possible based on geographic ACTFL maintains a fully remote workforce, with the option of working at our headquarters location in Alexandria, Virginia. Travel to the annual ACTFL Convention may be required (third week of November). While the above is a description of the essential functions of the position, other duties may be assigned.
