Director, Fundraising

The Director, Fundraising reports to the Vice President, Advancement and is responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of individual, foundation and corporate major gifts from funders nationwide to support YoungArts’ annual programs, operations and special projects. The Director, who will manage one team member, will be responsible for securing $1M annually and contributing to the fundraising team’s overall departmental goals and priorities. The ideal candidate should be excellent in relationship building, confident working with high-net-worth major gift donors, and will have extensive experience with, and knowledge of, the national arts funding environment. This position is remote/hybrid and will require some travel to meet business needs. This position may be based anywhere, but preference is for a candidate in New York, NY or Miami, FL. Direct Reporting: The Director, Fundraising will report directly to the Vice-President, Advancement and will supervise one team member, Manager, Fundraising.

Qualifications

Essential and Other Responsibilities (perform other duties as assigned): – Contribute to departmental fundraising goal by securing $1M in contributed revenue Proactively manage, maintain, and grow a robust portfolio of donors who are aligned with YoungArts’ priorities. – Identify, cultivate, solicit and steward gifts from funders nationwide supporting YoungArts’ annual programs, operations and special projects. – Ensure all fundraising efforts align with YoungArts’ mission and strategic goals, facilitating cross-departmental collaboration on strategy, proposals and reports – Work with the VP of Advancement and Sr. Director, Advancement to create and implement a comprehensive annual plan for sustaining and growing the current major gift portfolio at YoungArts. – Based on a deep knowledge of organizational and programmatic activities, support the VP of Advancement and other fundraisers by highlighting key updates and opportunities for donor communication and stewardship – Identify, research and cultivate short and long-term prospective funders, leveraging established relationships and those of YoungArts’ senior leadership (executive director, senior staff, and trustees), while also identifying prospects that are new to the organization. – Responsible for managing the Manager, Fundraising, providing direction, review and strategy where needed – Document and track fundraising activities in organization’s CRM database – Monitor donor trends on local, state and national levels. – Represent YoungArts with peer institutions and major donors. – Travel as needed to key markets across the country where YoungArts is engaging artists. Report any potential or actual violations to security and HR as appropriate. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. – Commitment to YoungArts’ values of excellence, collaboration, community, experimentation, respect, and integrity as key strategies toward creating and supporting empathy, a sense of belonging, and humanity to foster the greatest potential for innovation, creativity, and collaboration. – Knowledge of the arts funding landscape and regional/national philanthropic communities – Superb verbal and presentation proficiency; impeccable attention to detail; effective planning, organization, time management, and multi-tasking skills – Exemplary emotional intelligence—including reasoning abilities, sound judgement and superior interpersonal skills—with the ability to inspire teammates, contribute to a positive team dynamic and participatory work style, and engage donors/partners with the YoungArts mission – Experience in grant writing and budget management at non-profit institution(s) – Outstanding writing, editing and proofreading skills – Discretion and the ability to handle confidential information with great sensitivity – Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office programs and fundraising databases – Flexibility to work after regular office hours for programs and events Education and/or Credentialing Requirements: – Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent in education and experience – 8+ years of professional experience in achieving fundraising goals and progressive experience managing high-performing teams and evidence of responsibility growth in the arts and culture field – Experience beyond requirement will be considered in lieu of education requirement Working conditions, typical physical/mental demands: – YoungArts physical campus and headquarters are in Miami, FL and a satellite office in New York, NY. Work is performed in a hybrid (virtual and in-office) setting. Typical operations take place in an office environment and/or in an event/venue setting. – General working hours are 9:00 am–5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. The nature of our work will sometimes require an adjustment to this schedule, including evenings and weekends. You will normally be advised in advance should your work schedule be adjusted. – Travel may be required.
