Remote Lead Structural Drafter

Our client is seeking an experienced and meticulous Remote Lead Structural Drafter to oversee the creation of detailed structural drawings and models. This fully remote position is key to translating engineering designs into precise construction documents. The Lead Drafter will manage a team of drafters, ensure adherence to project standards, and collaborate closely with structural engineers to deliver high-quality deliverables. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional technical drafting skills, a thorough understanding of structural principles, and proven leadership capabilities in a virtual environment.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and mentor a remote team of structural drafters, providing guidance and oversight. Develop detailed structural drawings, plans, sections, and details using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit). Translate engineering concepts and calculations into accurate and constructible documentation. Ensure all drawings comply with project specifications, building codes, and industry standards. Review and coordinate structural drawings with architectural, mechanical, and electrical designs. Manage the drawing production workflow, ensuring timely delivery of project milestones. Perform quality control checks on all drafted work for accuracy and completeness. Collaborate closely with structural engineers to clarify design intent and resolve drafting issues. Maintain drawing standards, libraries, and templates to ensure consistency across projects. Assist in the preparation of technical reports and documentation. Stay current with advancements in CAD technology and structural drafting practices. Communicate effectively with team members and project stakeholders in a remote setting. This role requires a highly organized individual who can manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a distributed team. Proficiency in industry-standard CAD software is essential. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership potential and the ability to foster a collaborative remote work environment. This position offers the flexibility of working from home while contributing to significant construction projects across various sectors. The operational focus for this role is in relation to projects in Boise, Idaho, US , but the role itself is fully remote.

Qualifications

Associate's degree in Drafting Technology or a related field, or equivalent experience. Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in structural drafting and design. Proven experience leading or supervising a drafting team. Expert proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit (or similar BIM software). Strong understanding of structural engineering principles and construction methods. Familiarity with building codes and standards. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective remote collaboration. Ability to manage project timelines and deliverables effectively.
