[Remote] Technical Solutions Engineer, Connectivity
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Telit Cinterion, a leader and pioneer in IoT innovation, is the largest and most cyber-secure Western provider of end-to-end IoT solutions. The Technical Solutions Engineer serves as a trusted technical advisor to the Regional Sales Directors and enterprise customers, focusing on pre-sales discovery, solution scoping, and post-sale integration support to ensure successful certification and launch outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Partner with Sales on discovery: device architecture, radios/bands, mobility, data profiles, security posture, SLAs; propose Telit Connectivity and services strategy, APN selection, and SIM fleet policies
- Build POCs and demos (SIM activation, CMP configuration, device attach tests, data path validation) and deliver results to stakeholders
- Quantify trade-offs (CAT-M vs. NB-IoT vs. LTE Cat 1.bis/Cat 1; roaming vs. localized profiles; eUICC orchestration plans) and recommend the optimal design
- Lead first-time attach and KPI baselining (Signal strength, network attach, PDP contexts, throughput/latency). Capture logs and share reproducible steps
- Configure connectivity services (APNs, private routes, IPsec/VPN where applicable) and document Connectivity Management Portal workflows (lifecycle, profile swaps, alerts/usage policies)
- Act as the front-line technical interface for complex issues; triage across device, module FW/AT stack, SIM/profile, RAN/core, and application layers; coordinate with carriers and internal teams to closure
- Gather artifacts (AT traces, network surveys, pcap logs, CMP session records) and drive crisp RCAs with corrective/preventive actions
- Maintain customer-facing knowledge articles and internal runbooks for recurring issues (activation failures, IMSI selection anomalies, PSM/eDRX, VoLTE/VoNR)
- Translate field learnings into sales collateral, playbooks, and sizing guides for repeatable wins (coverage matrices, profile selection guides, APN options)
- Provide inputs to Product on coverage gaps and prioritize TCP profile expansions based on opportunities
- Work closely with AE, Technical Support, Software, and Product; contribute to weekly pipeline and issue reviews; track outcomes (POC success, time-to-first data, first-call resolution, time-to-launch)
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent hands-on experience
- 5+ years in cellular IoT as a Field Application Engineer, Technical Support/Pre‑Sales Engineer, or similar at a connectivity provider/MVNO, module vendor, or MNO
- Solid understanding of cellular technologies and device behaviors: LTE Cat‑1/4, Cat-1.bis, LTE‑M (Cat‑M1), NB‑IoT, 5G basics (NSA/SA), roaming, attach/TAU, PSM/eDRX, and SIM/eUICC concepts (ICCID/IMSI, profile lifecycle), eSIM provisioning platform, SGPx2
- Experience designing and bringing up connectivity solutions: APN selection, private vs. public routing, CMP/NOC workflows, data path validation, KPI baselining, and multi‑IMSI profile orchestration
- Proficiency with module/AT‑level debugging and log capture (AT traces, network surveys, modem logs) and packet analysis (Wireshark or equivalent)
- Working knowledge of operator certification paths (PTCRB/GCF fundamentals) and U.S. operator processes (e.g., AT&T AQT/TRENDI, Verizon VPP/IoT Security) sufficient to guide customers through readiness and test planning
- Core IP and security skills: PDP/PDU sessions, IPv4/IPv6, DNS, MQTT/HTTP(S), TLS, certificate handling; familiarity with IPsec/VPN options and private networking patterns for IoT
- Customer‑facing communication excellence: discovery/whiteboarding, and the ability to lead cross‑functional troubleshooting to closure with urgency and ownership
- Hands‑on with Telit connectivity stack, CMP operations, SIM lifecycle management and policy/alerting
- Familiarity with Telit and peer CMP/device management tools; ability to recommend fleet health practices (templates, remote updates, out‑of‑band diagnostics)
- Experience with cellular test gear and tooling: Keysight/Anritsu call boxes, RF scanners/field test apps, QXDM/QPST (or equivalent), TEMS/drive‑test utilities
- Scripting/automation (Python/Bash/PowerShell) for log parsing, test harnesses, and CMP/REST API integrations; competency with Jira/Salesforce or similar ticketing/CRM
- Understanding of IoT security and compliance artifacts (e.g., Verizon IoT Security deliverables, GSMA connection‑efficiency guidance, CTIA IoT Network Certified context) and how they map to device+module responsibilities
- Exposure to cloud IoT services (AWS IoT, Azure IoT) for data ingestion/identity and certificate lifecycle
- Comfortable supporting customers across the Americas region
